Emergency power aggregate datacenter

An emergency power unit contains an engine and a generator. These engines are traditionally fuelled by diesel. These units are designed in such a way that they automatically start up within the first seconds of a blackout. This makes them highly responsive and able to provide the necessary current within seconds.

The Datacenter in Eemshaven has 21 UPS-systems (Uninterruptible power supply), delivered by HITEC power protection. These emergency power units are powered by a S16R-PTA Mitsubishi engine. These units reach full power within seconds and are able to completely take over from the main current. Four of these systems are available for cooling the server park.

The datacenter with "the number one in search engines" as its most important ‘inhabitant', is one of the biggest computer centers in Europe, at maximum capacity it uses as much power as 80.000 households. Next to the 21 UPS emergency power units, there are five standard emergency power units from SDMO by SIM Holland B.V., type PACIFIC II. This type is powered by a S16R-PTA2 Mitsubishi diesel engine. These aggregates supply power for cooling the server park.

Supply of green energy to the datacenter is provided by solar panels, wind turbines, waterpower and biogas, this fits in with the "number one of searche engines" strategy of being climate neutral.
