A telling example of the service delivered by Diesel Equipment Trading (DET) was a situation in which an inland skipper quickly wanted to change oil while waiting for a lock. Only after the skipper had drained the oil, he found that he did not have any new oil filters in stock for his diesel engine. When he contacted DET at 7 A.M. we immediately realized that there was only one option: not much later one of our employees for Parts personally delivered a new set of oil filters at the lock. Enabling the inland skipper to continue and he even made it to the lock in time!
Barges often carry a generator set on board, to provide electricity. These gensets are used very intensively and are practically indispensible to the skipper.
